Compatibility
This site is designed for
IE 5.0 or higher,
Mozilla 1.7 or higher, and
Firefox 1.0 or higher on PCs;
Safari 1.02 or higher on Macs; and
Netscape 7.0 or higher on both platforms.
Older browser versions are not supported due to the need to use current standards
for managing large database-driven web sites, and to allow for compliance with
ADA accessibility standards. In addition, many of the remote database and ejournal
web sites accessible through this site require these newer browser versions.
Privacy
Aggregate data about use of this site is collected to assist in designing future
improvements. Individuals are not identified in this data collection, but IP
addresses of computers are recorded in order to maintain statistical counts
of unique visitors to the site. OU students, faculty and staff who log into
the site will be able to maintain personal preferences in the future, but pages
visited will not be linked to individuals.
Security
|
When you log in to the University Libraries website, your username and password are submitted to
Information Technology's authentication servers to verify your identity. This information is
transmitted securely, and is encrypted and protected by a digitial security certificate from ipsCA.
|
When you log in, you may see a message that indicates you are being redirected to an insecure site. This
does not mean your information is at risk. Rather, this is telling you that after your login information has been
sent securely, you are returning to a non-encrypted browser session. Although you could browse the University Libraries
web pages in a secure session, this would slow navigation of the website. For that reason, the only time information
from you is encrypted is during your login to the website.
