Bizzell Memorial Library will host a free hands-on workshop to help you find and use U.S. Census data. The workshop will take place on Tuesday, December 1, from 1:30 to 4:30 PM in Bizzell Room 149-D.


The workshop will be led by Steve Barker, Oklahoma Department of Commerce, and Steve Beleu, Government Information Librarian of the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, which was named Federal Depository Library of the Year for 2009.


The workshop will teach you how to access and use the following data and tools from the Census website:


n  the new “multiyear estimates” data from the American Community Survey, which are available now for all geographies of over 20,000 population, and which will become available for all populations from 50 to 20,000 after the 2010 Census

n  2000 Census data

n  2007 Economic Census data

n  The American Fact Finder search engine, which will be used to access and work with 2010 Census data


The workshop will specifically focus on data and maps that feature Oklahoma.
