06/01/2012 - Alan Turing Display @ Bizzell

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Alan Turing's birth this June with the OU Libraries' display located on the main floor of Bizzell Memorial Library.  Turing is often referred to as the father of modern computing and is perhaps best known for his contributions during World War II toward breaking the German Enigma codes.  Turing was also a gifted athlete, excelling at long-distance running; at the age of 30, his ability to run a marathon in 2 hours, 46 minutes qualified him as a candidate for the 1948 Olympic Games, held in London.
