Obtaining a Guest Login
Guest logins allow temporary access to public computers within the library. From these computers, guests may access most of the Libraries' databases and electronic reference materials.
To obtain a guest login, you will need to have photo identification (example: driver's licenses, passports) with you. Present your photo identification at any of the service desks throughout the library. Library personnel will issue you a temporary username and password that may be used on any of the computers throughout the University Libraries system.
Temporary guest logins remain valid for two hours. The guest login and password activate upon receipt. The guest login will deactivate after several minutes if you have not used the mouse or keyboard.
Finding Materials in the Collection without a Guest Login
Throughout University Libraries, certain public computer terminals are designated as catalog only. These computers do not require a login, but they only access the library catalog and may not be used to search the internet or the library's electronic resources. Ask library personnel for assistance in locating an catalog only computer.
Those without OU ID cards may purchase visitor’s cards at the self-service vending machine on Lower Level 1 of Bizzell Memorial Library, located next to the Digitizing and Copying Center. Visitor cards can also be purchased from the Digitizing and Copying Center. Check with a public services desk staff member to receive your guest login and printing instructions.
You may download library research to writeable CD, DVD media, or USB devices. Library employees can provide basic technical assistance with such operations.
