Interlibrary Loan for Distance Education Students, Part 2: Using My ILL

If OU Libraries does not provide access to the full text of an article you need, and you cannot locate a record for an article you need in Article1st, use the Interlibrary Loan form on the libraries’ website to request the article.

  • Login to the OU Libraries’ website.
  • Choose "My ILL".
  • Select the appropriate request form located under "New ILL Request."
  • Enter as much information as possible about the article you need. Please check for typographical errors and verify the citation information. Providing incomplete or inaccurate information may cause significant delays in processing your request.
  • Scroll through the entire form and make sure you have provided all of the necessary information.
  • Select the “Submit Request” button when you are finished completing the form.
  • To verify a successful submission, check "Outstanding Requests" to see if it is listed.

You can check the status of your Interlibrary Loan requests through the "My ILL" link.

Interlibrary Loan requests that are being processed are listed under “Outstanding Requests.” Once a request has been filled, the information will move from the Outstanding Requests section to the appropriate section for its new status.  If the item has arrived, the request will be located under "Electronically Received Articles."  If the request cannot be filled, you will be notified by email and the request will move to "Cancelled Requests."


  • From within a library databases use the OU Link to Article service to see if an article is available online or to place an Interlibrary Loan request for the article.
  • If you have a citation for an article that is not available online, use the database Article1st to request the article from Interlibrary Loan.
  • If the citation is not available in Article1st, use the Interlibrary Loan form in the "My ILL" area to request the article.
