Books That Inspire 2001

Gravity's Rainbow
Thomas Pynchon

In the spring of 1973, I sat on the banks of the Rhine River reading a book. This book, heavier than any book one should carry on an airplane, was Gravity’s Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. The complexity of plot and character occupied my mind for days, overshadowing the events in my own life that led me to the Rhine. I never looked at the world the same way again.
