Comanches in the New West, 1895-1908: Historic Photographs
Stanley Noyes

In Comanches in the New West, 1895-1908: Historic Photographs, I discovered a record of the transitional generation of Comanches from around the beginning of the 20th century. No longer living the free and nomadic life of generations before them, these people, my ancestors, are portrayed in a series of photographs from a collection acquired by author Larry McMurtry. The pictures, taken in southwest Oklahoma over a thirteen-year period, portray a resilient people adapting to profound change. A century later, this book can inspire us all to adapt to change but still honor the past.
