Savage Inequalities: Children in America’s Schools
Jonathan Kozol

By incorporating cold-hard facts amidst vivid imagery, Jonathan Kozol paints a picture of America few of us want to believe exists. The socio-economic stratification illustrated in Savage Inequalities should inspire, if not action, at the very least awareness. The plight of inner-cities and poverty-stricken communities in a nation as wealthy as ours demands our attention, and should motivate us to examine ourselves and our own region of the country.
