Growing Up Poor: A Literary Anthology
Robert Coles and Randy Testa
More by This Author
Growing Up Poor: A Literary Anthology is a collection of writings that explores the daily struggle of millions of Americans living in poverty. Poverty crosses all age, race and cultural boundaries. As we experience through these writings, poverty is a fact of everyday life for children born into it. Hardship robs them of the carefree lives children should enjoy. They instead experience lives of pain and disillusionment. As history has shown, it is hard to break the cycle.
This book brought home to me the reality that each of us has the responsibility to become a voice for the silent numbers of Americans living in poverty.
