My real love of reading started while I was sitting in Mrs. Cutzinger’s third grade class listening to the wild adventures of Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. This story of love and friendship filled me with excitement and anticipation. The story also brought tears to my eyes and true sadness to my heart. It was the first book I remember which actually transported me to another place and time. Where the Red Fern Grows is a wonderful story about a boy and his two hunting dogs … and how true friendship can withstand all things.
