The Old Man and the Sea
Ernest Hemingway


Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea has been a source of inspiration for me since the first time I read it. The old man’s respect for the fish that is so difficult to catch and the boy’s appreciation for the worth of an old man whom the rest of the village has discarded exemplify the ability to look beyond the obvious to the things that are truly important. This story serves to remind me to think about the greater good I’m working toward, rather than the sometimes unpleasant tasks that are part of the process.
