The Leaves in Her Shoes
J.L. Jacobs
More by This Author
Montage. Collage. Voices. Silence. White space.
These poems call up images of home for me: the knotted hills of southeastern Oklahoma, the voices of my grandmother, my aunts, their hands, the goods they touched: on the bedside table a white crocheted doily, a ribbed glass jar and gnawed blackgum snuff stick. These poems call up land water bird stone, call up all my past, the pasts of elders I can't remember, lands and lives I've lived and never knew I did. I cannot describe how powerful they are. You must read them.
