Women of Oklahoma: 1890-1920
Linda Williams Reese

Both my grandmothers, young women at the time, arrived in Oklahoma prior to statehood. Linda Reese, as an Oklahoman and historian, has detailed the experiences of several Oklahoma pioneer women from different cultural backgrounds, taking their stories from primary sources. Her chapter notes and bibliography give the reader an opportunity for further research into a period when women were an integral part of transforming this land into the State of Oklahoma. The accompanying photographs helped me engage creatively in the narrative. My grandmothers' oral histories are confirmed by these amazing and inspiring stories of adventure, perseverance, and accomplishment.
