Oklahoma Place Names
George H. Shirk

Oklahoma Place Names, by George H. Shirk, explains how places in Oklahoma got their names. The information is given in small doses. For me, history is more enjoyable in small doses. I knew this would be a book my dad would enjoy, being a history buff, so I got a copy for him. He began by looking up places he was familiar with. He said, "wow" and "I didn't know that" over and over. I really enjoyed watching him. I think this book is a "must have" for people who are curious about how places in Oklahoma got their names.
