 | A Matter of Black and White: The Autobiography of Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher and Danney Goble |
A Matter of Black and White details the author's experience becoming the first African-American student at the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1949 and eventually attorney, professor, administrator, and University of Oklahoma Regent. Mrs. Fisher tells her story with the grace and dignity she learned from her courageous parents who suffered the loss of their livelihood, home and (for a time) liberty in the Tulsa Race Riot in 1921, and resettled in Chickasha without allowing bitterness to overwhelm their dreams. Their example served Ada well, and today we have all benefited from her struggle and victory.
