Chienne de Guerre
Anne Nevat
More by This Author
Anne Nivat, who witnessed the Russian Federation at war with Chechnya in 1999 from the Chechen side, inspires us to think hard about what making war means and to consider carefully all of its consequences. During this second conflict between Russian troops and Chechen rebels, tens of thousands of civilians were killed or injured, many forced to flee from their homes, unable to escape from the fighting. Her story is the testimony, in their own words, of ordinary civilians, of privates and colonels, of the fates of families on both sides of this chienne de guerre, this crappy, dirty war.
