The Secret Life of Bees
Sue Monk Kidd

New York Times bestselling novel, The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd is a fictional story about a motherless child who goes on a journey to find resolution, love and forgiveness. I love this novel because of the many layers that are presented in this story. The main story is of Lily’s journey to find answers about the mother she never knew, but the novel contains other themes that Kidd interweaves within the main storyline so beautifully. The most significant theme that touched me in this story is of the transforming power of love between women and across racial lines to help people heal and forgive. This novel will remind you that hope and love do conquer all in one way or the other.
