Little Black, A PonyWalter Farley
Growing up in a bay-area suburb, I knew I could never own a horse. I consoled myself with a few Breyer ™ horses and Little Black, A Pony. Even though I had the book memorized, I insisted that my father read it to me at bedtime. Then, my family moved to Arizona and, thanks to my grandfather, we got a horse. The "illness," as we refer to it, is a chronic and only rarely life-threatening disease best managed by frequent interactions with equines. Today, I own four horses and compete in the sport of Eventing.
