Books That Inspire 2012

The Runt of Rogers School
Harold Keith

Harold Keith's The Runt of Rogers School was one of my first ties to the University of Oklahoma. My father read this inspiring story of a "runt" overcoming his size deficiencies to succeed in his favorite sport when I was too young to read over and over until I read it for myself in the second grade. I was lucky enough to meet Harold Keith, the famed author and ghost writer of Bud Wilkinson, a few times before he passed. My dad would always embarrass me and tell him how much I loved his book by telling him how many copies we had "worn out." The Runt of Rogers School not only inspired me to strive for my goals, but I intend to pass it down to my children.
