| | Charlotte's Web E. B. White |
As a gift for my seventh birthday, my aunt gave me the book Charlotte's Web by E.B. White.
This gift fueled my love of reading. Charlotte's Web tells a tenderhearted story about Wilbur
the pig and his best friend, a barn spider named Charlotte. Young Fern Zuckerman saves Wilbur, the
runt of the litter, from the farmer's ax. Fern convinces the farmer, her father, that Wilbur should
not have to die just because he is small. The book follows Wilbur's adventures and Charlotte's efforts
to save Wilbur from the slaughterhouse by writing words about him in her webs. My children have grown
to love this story and it is one of our favorites to read together. Charlotte's Web teaches
us that we can find friends in the most unlikely places. This moving story explores life and death,
trust and friendship, and ignites our imagination all at the same time!
