Books That Inspire 2013

Fatelessness
Imre Kertèsz

Nobel Prize for Literature (2002) for Hungarian original edition.

Imre Kertèsz' novel has inspired me to embrace the diversity that our world has to offer. Too often, we fear what we do not understand and disregard the ignorance that generates hate and an unwillingness to accept people as they are. This novel has shown me that what is different is not always wrong and has encouraged me to appreciate everyone's unique background. By recounting one of the most atrocious examples of human behavior in our world’s history, Kertèsz has inspired me to see the value in cultural difference and to never fear the unfamiliar.
