Spencer Weart's Nuclear Fear: A History of Images is the bible of my research on nuclear iconography. It provides me not only a multitude of ideas to work from, but also an insightful discourse going far beyond the facts of the imagery that indigenously manifested itself from harnessing the power of the atom. Studied in both physics and history, Weart makes insightful interdisciplinary connections (many important to the contemporary artists) between the apocalypse, psychology, alchemy, mythology, pop culture, linguistics, technology, and the visual arts.
