Philosophy of Beauty
Francis Kovach

Former OU philosophy professor Francis J. Kovach was a staunch aesthetic objectivist, which means that he disagreed with the statement, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” (or to quote the aesthetic subjectivist Lord Kames exactly, “beauty is not in the person beloved, but in the lover’s eye”). In this book, Dr. Kovach proves that the statement cannot be true. He illuminates thoroughly and meticulously the history and doctrines of aesthetics and the study of beauty. Philosophy of Beauty is a challenging, stimulating, and inspiring book for anyone interested in studying the basis of all art.
