Engineers often need to look up standards, and the Engineering Library can help you find the standard you need.
What are standards? “Standards are documented agreements containing technical specifications or other precise criteria to be used consistently as rules, guidelines, or definitions of characteristics, to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their purpose” (as stated by the International Organization for Standardization [ISO]).
The Engineering Library contains a collection of many standards and specifications. You can use the catalog to look up the standard you need, or you can ask any staff member for help.
If the Engineering Library does not already own the standard you need, it is often possible for the librarian to purchase it electronically for same-day or next-day delivery. This service is provided free to OU faculty and students. Just stop by and ask to talk to the librarian, or call (405)325-1763.
