Bizzell Memorial Library’s collection of selected reserve textbooks has been created through a $200,000 fund established by OU President David Boren. The textbook collection is one of many new initiatives implemented by President Boren to help alleviate the burden of textbooks costs on students, following recommendations by the Presidential and Provost’s Textbook Taskforces and the passage of Oklahoma’s Guaranteed Tuition Bill.
The collection offers selected required textbooks that are available free of charge to students. Textbooks have been purchased primarily for general education courses that have the highest enrollments as well as courses that have comparatively high-cost textbooks. While University Libraries is not able to purchase textbooks for every course, this approach reaches the greatest number students possible as well as assists those most impacted by textbook costs. |
To determine if your textbook is available on reserve, use the library's catalog. Within the catalog, perform a title or author search for the desired textbook. (Note: Not all textbooks have been added to the catalog at this point. If you do not find your textbook in the catalog, please check the Excel file below, or check again in a few days.)
You may also use the Reserve Desk portion of the catalog to search for a textbook by course number or by course name.
You may also view an Excel spreadsheet of available titles which may be searched or sorted by department, course number, section, instructor, and textbook title.

Textbooks are available at the main circulation desk near the west entrance of Bizzell Memorial Library.
Textbooks go out for a two-hour loan period only with an additional two hour renewal. Textbooks can leave the building but must be returned before the library closes. Textbooks cannot be checked out for an entire semester. You may check out up to three items from Reserves at one time.
Textbooks are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You may not reserve a textbook. |
