Researching Standards for Engineers

Engineers often need to look up standards, and the Engineering Library can help you find the standard you need.

What are standards? “Standards are documented agreements containing technical specifications or other precise criteria to be used consistently as rules, guidelines, or definitions of characteristics, to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their purpose” (as stated by the International Organization for Standardization ).

The Engineering Library maintains a collection of many standards and specifications. For more information, please visit our Standards Resource Guide.

If the Engineering Library does not already own the standard you need, we may, depending on the request, be able to make a special purchase on your behalf.  Just stop by and ask to talk to the librarian, or call (405) 325-6451.
