Please join us as Kathy Brosnan, Travis Chair, History Department and Tara Carlisle, Digital Scholarship Specialist, OU Libraries present "Digital History, the University, and the Public".
How has the digital age changed the work of scholars? How can universities support K-12 education or lifelong learners who now are actively engaged in primary source research? Can online venues provide new means to reach undeserved and underrepresented audiences? Does the digital arena present new opportunities to integrate diverse disciplines? Universities and cultural institutions increasingly provide online access to historical materials in their archives, offer online exhibits that frame historical narratives, and nurture relationships with audiences beyond the academy. This brown bagger will explore the university’s responsibilities in this new and expanding arena, while contemplating the challenges it presents for the librarians and scholars engaged in this work.
The presentation will take place Wednesday, October 14th, from 12 - 1pm in Bizzell's Digital Scholarship Lab, 121E.
