Harold and the Purple Crayon
Crockett Johnson

Harold and the Purple Crayon was my favorite book when I was five as I loved Harold's imagination. I would have my mom and sisters read it to me over and over. One day after school, I came home to my room I shared with my sisters, who were much older than me, and took a purple crayon and redesigned the walls of our entire room. My mom laughed, and my sisters threw a fit, but they soon won out and we had to paint our room. Ironically, my sisters picked the color purple for the new paint choice. Years later I read this book to my granddaughter and she redesigned her room with a purple crayon as well.
