This three-volume biographical dictionary covers the lives of notable women throughout three and a half centuries of American history. More than 1,300 women from all walks of life are included.

Contains entries on almost 500 women whose death dates fall between 1976-1999. Women from a variety of fields are covered, including radio, film, dance, and television; scientists and scholars; politicians and entrepreneurs; authors and aviators; civil rights activists and religious leaders; Native American craftspeople and world-renowned artists. Women from a broad spectrum of ethnic, class, political, religious, and sexual identities are all acknowledged.

This biographical dictionary includes entries on over 400 notable women who died between 1951-1975. Women from a broad spectrum of ethnicities, socioeconomic classes, sexual orientations, religions, and political parties are included. Criteria for selection include an influence on time or field, a pioneering or innovative quality, the significance of achievement, or relevance of the career in the history of women.

This database contains translated and English-language radio and television broadcasts, newspapers, periodicals, government documents, and books providing global reaction to the world Arms Race. The collection allows researchers to trace not only the development and spread of the world's most dangerous weapons, but also regional reactions, treaties and agreements, and efforts to limit nuclear proliferation.
