OU Libraries 3D Printing Policies

These policies apply to the Library MakerSpace, Research 3D Printing, and Resin 3D Printing.

  • University Libraries reserve the right to decline any print for any reason.
  • University Libraries does not permit use of the tools to create material that is…
    • prohibited by local, state, or federal law
    • unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others.
    • in violation of another’s intellectual property rights.
    • in violation of The University of Oklahoma Regents’ Policy Manual, Section 1.1.1.4, which states: “Firearms and munitions of all types, as well as other weapons as identified in 21 O.S. §1277, are prohibited on all property owned, leased, or occupied by the Board of Regents at all times except as specifically authorized.”
    • in violation of the student's code of conduct: “Actual or constructive use, possession, or control of any weapon and munitions of all types, defined as any object used or designed to inflict or attempt to inflict harm or injury or fear of harm or injury including instruments designed to look like any weapon."
  • University Libraries will prepare all 3D print submissions for patrons.
  • Many factors affect 3D printing, and print completion timelines are subjected to change.
  • University Libraries does not offer assistance with 3D model design, modification, or repair.
