Located on the 5th floor of the Bizzell Memorial Library, the James G. Harlow, Jr. Room serves as a secure space for classes using rare books from OU Libraries Special Collections, and as a venue for special library events. It is dedicated to James G. Harlow, Jr. (1934-1996), one of the University of Oklahoma’s most distinguished and devoted alumni. He served as president of Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) and chair of the board of trustees of the OU Foundation. He and his wife, Jane, played a founding role in the establishment of the Bizzell Library Society for the support of OU Libraries.

Preferred Usage:

  • Groups receiving a guided tour of the exhibit galleries receive priority in the use of the Harlow room.

ROOM POLICY

  • Food & Drink: Food & drink are allowed with curator approval.
  • Personal Items: Bags and pens are allowed when there are no special collection materials in the room. Staff presence is by the discretion of the curators.
