Kristal Sergent




Bio

Kristal Sergent joined OU Libraries in 2015 as the Social Sciences & Humanities Librarian. In this role, she serves as the subject librarian for several academic departments and provides research consultations, in-class instruction, and scholarly services to students and faculty. An avid knitter, Kristal also teaches and coordinates fiber arts workshops at OU Libraries' experimentation space Innovation @ the Edge.

, Kristal is a 2018-2019 Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Leadership and Career Development Program Fellow. She was also a 2007–2009 ARL Kaleidoscope Diversity Scholar and a 2007-2008 American Library Association Spectrum Scholar. Kristal holds a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Tulsa. Kristal's professional interests include the intersection of fiber arts and STEM, ethnographic research methods, and creative arts in academic library makerspaces. She has published articles in Reference Services Review and the Proceedings of the Association for Information Science and Technology.
