Eligibility for Distance Education Library Services
Students and faculty members in OU-Norman programs where classroom instruction takes place away from the Norman campus are eligible for these services. This includes students enrolled in Extended Campus, the College of Professional and Continuing Studies (PACS), and at the OK Biostation. Students at OU-Tulsa should use the services available through the Schusterman Library at OU-Tulsa’s website.
Research Assistance
Please visit the Libraries' Ask Us link available in the main menu.
Research Consultations are designed to support virtual research using video conference calling. Contact one of the research consultants, or your liaison librarian for your department, to schedule a virtual research consultation.
Obtaining Books & Articles from OU Libraries
Ask for them using Sooner Xpress. To use Sooner Xpress, view the detailed record for the item you wish to request from within the catalog. Once at the detailed record, click on "Get It" and then click on the "Request via Sooner Xpress" link and complete the form. You will need to be logged into the library's website to request materials.
How long will it take to receive my request?
For items owned by other libraries, it may take one to two weeks to receive the item requested. Sometimes requests are filled sooner. Please indicate on your request form the latest date the material will be of value to you.
Requests for articles from journals owned by OU are typically satisfied in 1 to 3 working days. Requests for books owned by OU may take longer depending on your location.
Posted Interlibrary Loan Articles
Once you have received notification that your article has arrived, login to the library's website with your OUNetID (4x4) and click on “My ILL / Sooner Xpress.” Your article should be under the heading "Electronically Received Articles." To view the article, click on the PDF icon.
If notification is received that the article has arrived but the article is not located on the "My ILL / Sooner Xpress" page, please report it to Interlibrary Loan at (405) 325-6422 or by using the Interlibrary Loan Contact Form.
If you cannot view the electronically posted material, you can also use the Interlibrary Loan Contact Form. We will try to access the document. If we are unable to repost the article, we will send it to your email as a PDF attachment.
If You Are Enrolled at OU-Tulsa or OU-Health Sciences Center
Students enrolled at OU-Tulsa or OU-Health Sciences Center should use the Interlibrary Loan forms available on the OU-Tulsa library or OU-Health Sciences Center library websites to request materials. In some cases, they may be able to get needed items from other libraries more quickly than they can from the OU-Norman library.
