Textbooks on Reserve

About the Program

Bizzell Memorial Library’s collection of selected reserve textbooks is one of many initiatives implemented to help alleviate the burden of textbooks costs on students. The collection offers selected required textbooks and scientific/graphing calculators that are available free of charge to students. Textbooks have been purchased primarily for general education courses that have the highest enrollments as well as courses that have comparatively high-cost textbooks. While University Libraries is not able to purchase textbooks for every course, this approach reaches the greatest number students possible as well as assists those most impacted by textbook costs.

Locating a Textbook on Reserve

To determine if your textbook is available on reserve, use the library's catalog. Within the catalog, perform a title or author search for the desired textbook.

Checking Out Textbooks

Textbooks and calculators are available at the main circulation desk near the west entrance of Bizzell Memorial Library.

Textbooks and calculators check out for a four-hour loan period only with an additional four hour renewal. Textbooks can leave the building but must be returned before the library closes. Textbooks cannot be checked out for an entire semester. You may check out up to three items from Reserves at one time.

Textbooks are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You may not reserve a textbook.

Fines for Textbooks on Reserve

Reserve textbooks and calculators accrue fines at a rate of $1.00 per hour. If you lose or do not return a textbook, you will be charged a $250 lost item fine plus a $25 processing fee. Textbooks and calculators are considered lost at 24 hours overdue. The lost item fine for textbooks are non-refundable.
