E-Resources for Environment

Comprehensive, multidisciplinary database covering social sciences, humanities, education, physical and life sciences, and ethnic studies with access to more than 7,000 peer reviewed journals and over 75,000 videos from the Associated Press.

This database contains abstracts and indexing for over 1,400 scientific and technical periodicals. Subjects covered include mathematics, geology, aeronautics, engineering, physics, space science, communication and information technology, energy resources and research, transportation, and more. 

Searches six ASFA databases: Aquaculture Abstracts, Marine Biotechnology Abstracts, Aquatic Pollution and Environmental Quality, Ocean Technology Policy & Non-Living Resources, Oceanic Abstracts, and Biological Sciences and Living Resources. Subjects covered include marine environments, policy and legislation, wildlife management, and conservation of marine, brackish water, and freshwater resources and environments.

General database covering all subject areas, including business, science, humanities, social science, medicine, technology, and popular culture. Provides citations to more than 12,600 academic journals and magazines.

This database is an online tool for locating articles across all disciplines of civil engineering. It provides access to more than 80,000 full text articles from ASCE Journals and Proceedings.

The ASTM Standards and Engineering Digital Library contains a large collection of industry-leading standards and technical engineering information. This database covers a variety of engineering disciplines, including aerospace, biomedical, chemical, environmental, geological, health and safety, industrial, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, petroleum, soil science, and solar engineering.

Indexes over 50 bioscience research journals focusing on biological, ecological, and environmental sciences. Full text access is available.

Covidence provides guided online software for streamlining evidence synthesis, such as systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and gap maps. This software works with citation managers such as Zotero and Endnote, allowing users to filter studies with machine learning or record screening and voting records per studies. Covidence also screens abstracts and full text, creates risk of bias tables, and exports results to common statistical packages.

A web-based virtual community for engineers and other technical professionals. Engineering Village includes access to EI Compendex Web database, which indexes and abstracts engineering journals, conferences, and reports. Also includes access to Knovel, Georef, and GEOBASE.

Environmental Engineering Abstracts covers world literature pertaining to technological and engineering aspects of air and water quality, environmental safety, and energy production. More than 700 primary journals are thoroughly indexed and abstracted.

Wiley's Environmental Science and History Digital Archive focuses on critical aspects of environmental science, history, and anthropogenic change and includes unique and rare archival collections from multiple global sources. The archive includes manuscripts, images, maps, and photographs covering topics such as deforestation, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, ecology, botany, biodiversity, extinction, water sources, irrigation, wetlands, and hydrology.

Determines influential individuals, institutions, papers, publications, and countries in science fields as well as emerging research areas.

Contains the proceedings of the Foundation's Annual Institutes (from 1955) and Special Institutes (from 1970). Covers all aspects of natural resources law, and includes articles on oil and gas, mining, water, environmental, and public lands issues. Full text is available. A part of Elsevier's Engineering Village, GeoBASE covers human and physical geography, geology, oceanography, geomechanics, ecology, nature conservation, international development, and related disciplines. Materials indexed include journals, books, conference proceedings, and reports.

Global Plants is the world’s largest database of digitized plant specimens and a locus for international scientific research and collaboration. It includes a growing herbaria community-contributed collection of nearly three million high-resolution type specimens and related materials. Also includes reference works and primary sources, such as collectors’ correspondence and diaries, paintings, drawings, photographs, and links to taxonomic literature.

Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts, and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.

A database covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government, and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. Full text is available.

Covers the history of science, technology, and medicine and their influence on culture. Materials indexed include journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book reviews, and dissertations. Integrates four bibliographies: the Isis Current Bibliography of the History of Science, the Current Bibliography in the History of Technology (technology and culture), the Bibliografia Italiana di Storia della Scienza, and the Wellcome Library for the History and Understanding of Medicine.
