E-Resources for Religious Studies

Provides access to an electronic version of the complete printed text of Acta Sanctorum, including prefaces, original texts, critical apparatus, and indices. This collection of documents examines the lives of saints, arranged according to each saint's feast day.

Series 1 provides an archive of religious and theological literature from the late 13th century through 1893. Volumes are in a range of languages, including English, German, French, Aramaic, Arabic, Greek and Hebrew.

Series 2 provides an archive of religious and theological literature from 1894 through 1922. Topics include the changing landscape of religion in America, the growing interest in non-Western religions at the turn of the century, church life, missionary activity, social movements, and demographics.

This database covers topics in biblical studies, world religions, church history, and religion in social issues. Materials indexed includes citations to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays. The ATLA Religion Database includes ALTASerials, an online collection of religion and theology journals, which provides some full text access.

Early English Books Online (EEBO) contains over 140,000 titles listed in Pollard and Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640), Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700), the Thomason Tracts (1640-1661), and the Early English Tract Supplement. All titles are full text digital facsimiles from the Early English Books microfilm collection. Highlights of the collection include works by Shakespeare, Malory, Erasmus, Newton, and Galileo.

This database indexes literature on Islam, the Middle East, and the Muslim world, including the main Muslim areas of Asia and Africa, as well as Muslim minorities elsewhere. Records included in the database cover almost 100 years of publications on the world of Islam. Over 3,000 journals are monitored for inclusion in the database, together with conference proceedings, monographs, multi-authored works, and book reviews.

Provides fully searchable and browsable English-Japanese and Japanese-English dictionaries, including Encyclopedia Nipponica, Dictionary of Synonyms in Japanese, Encyclopedia of Japan, Yuhikaku Dictionary of Psychology, Shogakukan-Oxford English-Japanese Learner's Thesaurus, Great Dictionary of Modern Japanese Literature, articles published in the weekly magazine Ekonomisuto, the Toyo Bunko, a database of pre-modern Japanese works, the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, and other resources.

Research tool connecting primary texts with journal articles and book chapters on JSTOR. It includes key works of British literature, the King James Bible, and all Shakespeare plays and sonnets.

Provides access to streaming video supporting classes in the arts, business, health, media/communication, science, humanities and education. 

NOTE: Kanopy video access is mediated. This means that any video not currently licensed for use will require the user to request access. Access is being enabled for class use with instructor approval.

Oxford Bibliographies Online (OBO) is designed to help researchers efficiently locate reliable sources of information. Each subject module contains a literary research guide to the most significant sources in that area of study with citations that link to those sources. University Libraries provides access to the following subjects: Atlantic History, Biblical Studies, Buddhism, Classical Studies, Hinduism, International Relations, Islamic Studies, Latin American Studies, Medieval Studies, Philosophy, Renaissance, and Victorian Literature.

Contains full text to some Oxford books in the areas of biology, psychology, social work, linguistics, economics and finance, neuroscience, philosophy, political science, religion, and public health.

Philosopher's Index covers all major fields of philosophy. Materials indexed include books, book reviews, and articles from more than 400 scholarly journals. Articles indexed come from over 35 countries and span 37 different languages, including English, Spanish, German, and French.
